Spiritual Hygiene for Hard Times: Breathe, Move, Return

Grounded Together: Nervous System Care for a World on Fire

This week I’ve been feeling it in my body - in my heart:

the collective grief,

the collective rage,

the collective exhaustion.

We’re watching the dominant society crack open and burn in real time - extreme violence and perversion exposed, systems failing loudly, and so much suffering amplified through screens. It’s too much to carry. Too much to process, with nowhere to put it. And when the nervous system is flooded, it’s easy to lose our center: to doom-scroll, to shut down, to snap at the people we love, to feel helpless and spiritually porous.

That’s exactly why Harmeet Kaur and I created Grounded Together.

Not as an escape from reality—but as a return to what’s real.
A safe place to land. A weekly place to breathe again. To soften the shoulders. To remember your spirit. To build the kind of inner steadiness that lets you show up for your life (and your people) without burning out.

A critical threshold: shedding the Snake, welcoming the Horse

There’s an energetic turning happening as we move through February.

In many teachings, the Snake carries medicine of shedding… letting the old skin fall away, clearing what’s been clinging, releasing what can’t come forward with us. And this month, we begin moving toward the Horse — an energy of courage, momentum, heart-led movement, and forward direction. In the Lunar calendar, the shift into the Year of the Horse begins February 17, 2026.

And right in the middle of that threshold, we enter eclipse season, beginning with an annular solar eclipse on February 17, followed by a total lunar eclipse on March 2–3.
You don’t need to know astrology to feel what eclipse season can bring: intensity, truth-telling, revelations, endings, and beginnings. A spotlight on what’s misaligned - personally and collectively.

So the question becomes: How do we stay rooted while the world shakes?

Indigenous knowing: regulation is community care

From an Indigenous lens, wellness isn’t a solo project. It’s relational. It’s land-based. It’s ancestral. It’s about remembering that we were never meant to do life alone - especially not in times like these.

When we practice together, we’re not just “self-improving.”
We’re restoring nervous system safety in community.
We’re rebuilding the capacity to stay present.
We’re practicing spiritual hygiene - so we can protect our energy, hold healthy boundaries, and move with discernment.

Because protecting your spirit isn’t selfish. It’s medicine.

Grounded Together is a container for that medicine: steady, practical, gentle, and real. A place to come home to your breath, your body, your prayer, your rhythm—so you can meet the world from a regulated place instead of survival mode.

What we’re building (together)

  • craving a community that actually nourishes you

Over four Sundays, we’ll work with breath, movement, reflection, and simple ritual to help you build a daily practice you can actually sustain.
